Baška Vela plaža

Tested by us We have been here ourselves.

Baška's long town beach: about 1.8 km of mostly fine pebbles with some sand, bare hills behind and every service, including water sports. In July and August it is narrow and packed; it is often windy with waves and not good for snorkelling. Lovely in May, June and September.

Our tips

  • Go in May, June or September, or before 10:00.
  • Rather than spending the day on the main beach, take a taxi boat from Baška harbour to Vela Luka or Vrženica.
  • Car parks by the beach cost EUR 2 an hour or EUR 30 a day from June to August, and EUR 20 a day in spring and autumn; the bypass-road car park (EUR 17 a day) and the Suha marina car park (EUR 12 a day) are cheaper (2026).

Good to know

  • Very crowded Jul–Aug.
  • Umbrella + 2 loungers EUR 35 (Aug 2026), pedalo EUR 30.
  • Often windy with waves.
  • Big rocks in the water in places.
