One of Krk's few sandy beaches, in a bay near Risika about 6 km from Vrbnik, named after the ruined chapel of St Mark on its little headland. The sand runs gently into shallow water, which makes it a family favourite; there are beach bars, toilets, pedalos and, in summer, an inflatable water park, with a large paid car park right above. It gets crowded in July and August.
Our tips
- Wear water shoes even on sand: weever fish bury themselves in the shallows.
- Walk out to the chapel ruins on the peninsula.
- The coast path towards Supovica and Melska gives you quieter coves 10–30 min away.
- In July locals swim a 3.1 km amateur marathon from Vrbnik harbour to this beach.
- For shade, take a spot under the trees at the back of the beach; the sand itself has none.
- There is a ramp into the sea at the side of the beach.
Good to know
- Crowded Jul–Aug, few rental loungers.
- Weever fish in sand, wear shoes.
- Concrete blocks in the water spoil the view.
