Tested by us We have been here ourselves.
White-pebble cove just south of Stara Baška village, with two small paid car parks right above it, a little bar with a toilet and a handful of rental umbrellas. A freshwater spring makes the water noticeably colder and fresher, and 5–10 m out the bottom turns to sand, like a pool. Quiet in May and September; busy by late morning in August.
Our tips
- If driving: two pay car parks above the beach, EUR 1 an hour (lower, May–September) and EUR 1.40 an hour (upper, June–September), 2025; pay at the machine before you leave.
- Jump from the rock on the left of the beach; scramble over the rocks to the right for tiny private-feeling coves.
- Kayak and SUP hire at the bar; in flat water you can paddle along the coast.
- Feel for the cold spring water near the shore: a local curiosity.
- Zala is the last beach you can drive to: beyond it the coast is on foot only.
Good to know
- Very few rental sets (umbrella + 2 loungers EUR 20, Aug 2025).
- No natural shade.
- Busy from about 11:30 in early August.
- Water colder than elsewhere (spring).
