Small hilltop church and cemetery (about 125 m) on a switchback road above Baška: the classic postcard view over the old town, the 1.8 km Vela plaža and Prvić island with Velebit behind. It is also the trailhead for the Moon plateau: a built, pine-shaded path climbs about 3 km (about 1 h up, 30 minutes down) to a gate in a drystone wall, gentle enough for most ages.
Our tips
Turn left off the main road at the Baška bus station / main car park and drive up to the church; parking by the church is very limited, so on fine days use the town car parks.
For the classic view, stand with your back to the church and face the sea and Prvić.
For grandparents and small kids: walk only the forest section to the drystone gate onto the plateau and turn back. You get the views (benches at the switchbacks) without the exposed rock desert.
The forest path is shaded and usable on summer mornings and evenings; the plateau above it is not.
Sheep shelter in the forest on hot days; keep dogs leashed.
Its bell, called 'Starac' (the Old Man), dates from 1431.
Good to know
Very few parking spaces at the church.
Beyond the gate the plateau has zero shade.
Close the pastoral gate behind you.

Best time
Early morning or late afternoon. The view faces south over the bay, so expect warm light on the town and Prvić rather than a sun setting into the sea.
Getting there
Car to the church (limited spaces) or about 30 minutes' steep walk up from Vela plaža. Forest path to the plateau gate: about 3 km, about 1 h up, three sharp switchbacks, benches.
