A wooded islet in Punat bay with a Franciscan friary (from 1447), run today by four friars. It has four collections (ethnographic, sacred art, natural history and archaeology) and a church with a 1535 polyptych by Girolamo da Santacroce and Ughetto's 17th-century Last Judgement, about 10 m wide.
Our tips
Children love the oddities in the ethnographic room: a two-headed lamb, a one-eyed lamb and a stuffed boa from Costa Rica.
The library holds about 30,000 volumes, among them Ptolemy's atlas of the world printed in Venice in 1511.
Look for the wooden crucifix with movable arms, used in Holy Week burial rites.
There is no café or shop: bring water, enjoy the holm-oak paths and allow 1.5–2 hours.
Good to know
Swimming not allowed on the island.
Entrance EUR 6 adults, EUR 4 children, cash only (2026).
On Sundays and holidays the monastery opens only 10:30–12:30; check the time of the last boat back when you buy your boat ticket.
Dress modestly for the church.
