Where we'd start: Katunar Estate Winery.
Krk's own grape. It grows in the Vrbnik field, almost all of which is planted with it. Vrbnik's wineries make it as a still and a sparkling wine: the PZ Vrbnik cooperative even ages a sparkling Žlahtina on the seabed, and Gospoja makes a bottle-fermented one.
Walk in at Gospoja's old-town tasting room (daily about 10:00–23:00, 1 April to 1 November 2026), which also pours other Vrbnik producers, or book the seven-wine tasting at Kuća vina Ivan Katunar (about EUR 27–29 in 2026). Katunar Estate on the road into the village is open until 21:00 from June to September, and Placa Šipun is the wine bar on the main square.
Yes, in Vrbnik. At Kuća vina Ivan Katunar the cellar is under the family house; book with the family by phone, ahead in July and August. Šipun, which brings forgotten Kvarner grapes such as Sansigot and Trojišćina back into production, takes visitors by appointment only, and PZ Vrbnik arranges cellar visits if you contact it ahead with your head count and date.
A sparkling Žlahtina from PZ Vrbnik, the village cooperative founded in 1904, aged on the seabed off north-east Krk at about 30 m. Ask for 'Valomet Podmorski' at the harbour winery: the cooperative also sells an ordinary Valomet sparkling.
Sheep's cheese at OPG Magriž near Kornić, which also serves farm lunches from 12:00 (2026), and at Sirana Hlam in Punat. Krk PDO olive oil from 10–30–10 in Vrh, and Krčki pršut, protected at EU level, at Kuća krčkog pršuta Žužić, also in Vrh.
Honey Hill on the road between Punat and Stara Baška sells sage honey from its Krk apiary and opens at 10:00 (2026); ask which apiary a jar comes from, as some of the honeys come from the mainland. On the road to Baška, Sherry's Honey Store at Draga Bašćanska offers tastings of several honeys.

The bigger Katunar estate (32 ha, about 220,000 vines) lies beside the road into Vrbnik, with a shop and tasting room: taste before you buy. Besides standard Žlahtina it makes a pet-nat. Open until 21:00 in summer, it is an easy place to buy Žlahtina in the evening.

Family sheep farm of Vesna and Mirjenko Mrakovčić. They have made cheese since 1984 and grown the flock from 9 to about 150 sheep. The farm makes plain and flavoured sheep cheese (rosemary, walnut, truffle), olive oil, olives, dried figs and fig spread, and has won more than 50 awards. The on-farm Kušaona (tasting room) serves farm food, such as lamb tripe with polenta (EUR 12 in spring 2026).

The village cooperative, founded in 1904, sits at the harbour (Namori 2). Žlahtina covers almost all of the Vrbnik field, and the cooperative makes 'Zlatna Vrbnička Žlahtina'. It also makes Valomet, a sparkling Žlahtina aged on the seabed off north-east Krk at about 30 m: an unusual bottle and a good gift story. Cellar visits by arrangement; the cooperative's shop on the main square keeps different hours.

Boutique winery and vine nursery run by agronomist Ivica Dobrinčić. Besides Žlahtina, he brings forgotten Kvarner grapes back into production: Jarbola and Belina, the reds Sansigot, Kamenina and Debejan, and Trojišćina. Labels include Hlam 9 (premium Žlahtina), Maličić (sparkling Žlahtina), Vila (sparkling Trojišćina), a Trojišćina rosé and Kapitul (red). The winery is in the Gault&Millau Croatia guide. This is the visit for serious wine people.

Winery founded in 1995 by the Toljanić and Brusić families. It makes Žlahtina (including the 'Toljanić' label), a bottle-fermented Žlahtina sparkling, reds, prošek and rakije, and runs Vinotel Gospoja, a pizzeria and a prosciutto house. The old-town tasting room at Vitezićeva 9 pours Gospoja wines plus wines from other Vrbnik producers, with pršut and cheese boards.

Organic aromatic-herb farm started in 2015 by Monika Kovač (a former national basketball player) and Nives Matić on 32,000 m² of cleared scrub near Vrh. They grow more than 60 Mediterranean herbs and make herbal rakije, liqueurs, pelinkovac and gin, herb-infused olive oils, essential oils and natural cosmetics in small batches. Shops are in Krk old town (Dinka Vitezića 3) and in Vrbnik. Plantation visits with tastings of their rakija, liqueurs and gin can be arranged.

Punat's fish market sells the local boats' catch every morning, 06:30–12:00. It's our go-to for fresh fish. Punat's small produce market and the OPG Žagar vegetable stall (Mon–Sat 07:00–15:00) are a two-minute walk away.

Extra-virgin oil under the EU-protected 'Krčko maslinovo ulje' designation (at least 80% of the native Krk varieties Debela/Oblica, Naška/Drobnica, Rošulja and Slatka/Plominka). It comes from four groves run by OPG David Mrakovčić in Vrh. The name refers to self-imposed rules: October harvest, a yield cap per tree and the extraction rate. One lab analysis measured 601 mg/kg of polyphenols (the health-claim threshold is 250). Bottles EUR 10 (250 ml) to EUR 25 (1 L) in 2026.

Boutique olive oil from the Jud family grove in Porat near Malinska. Utla oils have won gold at the New York International Olive Oil Competition (2018 and 2022) and silver for the single-variety Plominka (2026). Mare Tours sells a grove tour with a tasting of two oils from EUR 10 (2026), daily at 10:00 and 19:00, booked a few days ahead. Utla also hosts the October 'Olive Touch' harvest Saturdays.
