Crikvenica is a mainland seaside town (a health resort since 1906) rather than a destination in itself. What makes it worth the trip is the boat: Šilo is 23 minutes from Vrbnik, the crossing is short, and on the other side there is a Michelin-selected terrace that looks straight back at Krk. For a grey or restless afternoon it is an easy change of scene, with no bridge and no parking in town.
When to come: April to September (2026 boat season); Dida open daily
A daily passenger boat across the channel; in 2026 there were 8–13 departures each way depending on the month.
Tip: Check the current timetable on the City of Crikvenica site; it changes several times a season.
Michelin-selected regional cooking in a century-old house on the seafront promenade.
Tip: Book the shaded outdoor tables in summer, and bring cash: cards are not accepted.
A small aquarium in the town centre; the rainy-day stop for children.
Tip: Open late in summer, so it works after dinner too.
