Day trip · The Krk Map
Famous, but not a day trip from Krk in summer: over six hours of driving for a crowded boardwalk.

Plitvice is spectacular, and that is exactly why guests ask. But from Krk it is more than three hours each way, and June to September is when the ticket is most expensive (EUR 40 in 2026) and the park is at its busiest. That day is better spent on Cres or Učka. Do Plitvice properly on another trip, with a night nearby.
When to come: May–June or October, with an overnight
Plitvice is about 3 h 7 min by car from Vrbnik and 3 h 18 min from Stara Baška each way; with summer traffic, plan about 3.5 h. That is 6–7 hours in the car for 3–4 hours in the park, at the highest ticket price of the year (EUR 40 in 2026).
Tip: If Plitvice matters to you, make it an overnight on the drive in or out, not a day trip from Krk.
The park sells a cheaper late ticket in summer (EUR 25 after 16:00 in June–August, after 15:00 in September) and much cheaper tickets in April–May and October (EUR 23).
Tip: A two-day ticket (EUR 60 in summer 2026) lets you walk in the late afternoon and come back early the next morning, which beats one rushed midday visit.
