Rudine is a hamlet of five people (2021) in the north-east of Krk, and the reason to come is Biserujka: a short, well-lit cave with calcite columns and stalactites that stays around 15 °C all year. The time underground is short, so treat it as a hot-day or rainy-day hour for children, add the educational trail, and make the day with a swim and lunch in Soline bay 10–15 minutes away. Adults on their own may find it a long drive for a small cave.

When to come: April–October only (closed November–March).

What to do

Go underground in Biserujka

About 110 m of lit passage, 12–13 m deep at its lowest, through halls with calcite columns and stalactites; the air stays around 15 °C at 95% humidity. Open to visitors since 1998 in groups of up to 25. Bones of cave bears have been found inside, and the cave is home to six narrowly endemic species.
