What Guests Actually Do at Our Villas: Experiences Beyond the Pool

The pool is the centrepiece. But after a day, guests start to explore what else is possible. Here is an honest account of what we arrange for guests — and how each experience actually works.

Private Chef Dining

We work with a chef based in Krk Town who cooks at all three villas. You agree the menu before arrival — or we suggest one based on what is fresh that week.

A typical dinner: škampi to start, šurlice pasta (hand-rolled, unique to Krk) with truffle sauce, grilled Krk lamb, local cheeses and olive oil from a producer in Punat. The meal is cooked in the villa kitchen and served on the terrace or in the dining room — wherever you prefer.

Price varies by menu and number of guests — contact us for a quote. We recommend it at least once during any stay. Most guests who book it once ask to repeat it before they leave.

Boat Trips and the Marim Jetski

From Villa Marim in Stara Baška: we have a jetski available for guests. The harbour is 2 minutes from the villa on foot. Guided jetski tours run along the south coast of Krk to Zala Beach and the uninhabited islets that sit just off the coast — completely wild, completely empty in the mornings.

For a full boat day, we arrange a charter with a local captain. Day trips to Cres, Lošinj, or a slow circumnavigation of the south coast stopping at coves as you choose. You agree the route in the morning. The captain knows every bay on this coastline.

Self-drive speedboat rental is also available from the harbour in Stara Baška — no licence required for smaller vessels under 5kW. We give guests specific cove coordinates rather than general directions.

Vespa Routes — Villa Moana

Villa Moana includes a Vespa scooter in the rental price. We give every guest a hand-drawn route map. The coastal road between Vrbnik and Šilo at sunrise is the standard first recommendation — 20 minutes of road with no traffic, sea to the left, the hills of Krk to the right, and the best morning light on the island.

Other recommended routes: the south coast loop through Baška and Stara Baška (2 hours, stop at Zala Beach trailhead), the Vrbnik wine valley loop (45 minutes), and the road to the Frankopan fortress above Krk Town (30 minutes each way).

Massage by a Local Therapist

We work with a licensed massage therapist based in Vrbnik. She visits the villa — you choose the room or the terrace. She has worked with our guests since we opened Villa Moana in 2024, and several guests have specifically asked for her by name in their second year.

One-hour session; we handle the booking when you confirm your dates. Available at all three villas. Book at least 2 days in advance in peak season.

Wine Cellar Visits in Vrbnik

For guests at Villa Moana and Villa Manatis, we arrange visits to the Šimunić family wine cellar in Vrbnik — 8 minutes on foot from both villas. Informal tasting in the cellar itself with the family. The visit takes about an hour. You taste the Žlahtina wines as they exist in their natural setting: cool stone cellar, the family, a table and glasses, no formal presentation.

The Žlahtina wine you taste is sold nowhere outside Vrbnik. You can buy bottles directly from the family. We recommend one of the reserve bottles if they have any available.

Custom Island Excursions

Beyond the water and the villas, we coordinate the following for guests who want to go further:

• Guided half-day in Krk Town — Roman walls, Frankopan Castle, Cathedral. We recommend a local guide rather than doing it alone; the layers of history are not obvious without someone who knows them.
• Drive to Beli on Cres — the griffon vulture colony there is extraordinary. A day trip — ferry from Valbiska on the western side of Krk, then the road north on Cres to Beli. Quiet, completely different from Krk.
• Truffle hunting in Motovun, Istria — in October, 30 minutes from the Krk Bridge. We work with a truffle hunter near Motovun; the trip includes the hunt with a dog, a simple lunch at the farmhouse, and oil and fresh truffles to bring back.

We coordinate everything — you simply tell us what sounds right. Most requests come in after arrival, once guests have settled in and started looking at the map.
